Summer Tour

Hey Friends,

It's been a busy summer of traveling up and down the West Coast and we're currently on our way to the East Coast and up to Canada! I apologize for my lack of posting. It's hard to get signal in some of the remote places we've been, but I have some exciting news! I'm finally releasing my first solo record, Fall Away, on September 22nd at the Continental Club in Austin, Texas! It will be available for download on September 23rd as well! For those of you who are coming out to a Wheel gig coming up, I'm currently selling them at shows only, so if you see Pj at the merch table, be sure to grab a copy!

What a difference a year makes

Howdy friends! What a difference a year makes. I've been a member of Asleep at the Wheel now for 2.5 years, and somewhere between the east coast and west coast, time can get a little warped day after day on the bus. Since my last post and the release of Still the King, we have played a variety of gigs from the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame show, to a private gig at the Broken Spoke in Austin with Willie Nelson, New Years Eve in Greensboro with the Avett Brothers, to theaters and dance halls from coast to coast! While we are gearing up for the summer months, I'm excited to say I have a record coming out! It's been years in the making, and though it's been a long time coming, I'm proud of the work that's been put into this, and I'm ready for you to hear it! Stay tuned with me here, as I will be updating very soon with more details! In the meantime, thanks for visiting here and hope to see you in your neck of the woods!

April in NYC

April was a great month! My favorite trip was up to New York to play with Asleep at the Wheel and Kat Edmondson on the Letterman show! It was neat to see how a show was run, and during the rehearsal I sat in Lettermans chair and interviewed Mr. Eddie Rivers-steel player of the decade! The next day I sat in with Brian Newman at Gramercy Park Hotel and had an amazing time playing old jazz standards. The musicianship of those guys was some of the best I've ever experienced, and it's still inspiring me. A truly unforgettable trip...I can't wait to get back to New York!  A Video of the Letterman performance can be seen here.

ACL / East Coast Tour / Nashville

In the blink of an eye, spring has sprung, and Im grateful we made it home in time to see the bluebonnets! I wish they lasted forever...

It was a full month of March, with only a few days off, and more cities visited than I can recall at once. March 3rd was the release of Asleep at the Wheel’s record “Still the King”. It was really special to have the Quebe Sisters on tour with us, and special guests Avett Brothers, Amos Lee, Brad Paisley, Old Crow Medicine Show, Del McCourry, Leon Rausch, and Elizabeth Cook, sat in to sing the tunes they recorded with us. We played venues small and large, with some special appearances on Austin City Limits, The Grand Ole Opry, World Cafe, Sirius Radio, the Woodsongs, and a three day stent in Savannah, Georgia with one of my favorite bands and dear friends, The Hot Club of Cowtown!

Austin’s SXSW happened right in the middle of the month, between tours, and while the town transforms for better and worse, I always love the energy of the city, and the constant sound of music in the air, and its usually one of the first warm weeks! My bud, Graham Wilkinson, invited me to play some own tunes in a showcase he hosted, and it felt so good to play some tunes dear to my heart, some of them my own.

I’m back out again soon, and hope to see you out there somewhere soon!

Spring is almost here

Hey y’all! Well this is long overdue…. 2014 was an amazing year, and it’s a little wild to think that we are well into 2015! After a little time off, spent playing out in the Terlingua with Slim Richey and the Jitterbug Vipers, and being a part of the 2015 Country Music Cruise, it’s been a good start to the year! Asleep at the Wheel has been gearing up for its upcoming release of Bob Wills is Still the King, available March 3rd. I’m delighted to have been such a part of this record, and we have some gigs coming up that you won’t want to miss! We are less than a week away from our Austin City Limits taping, and will joined by Amos Lee, The Avett Brothers, and The Quebe Sisters! You won’t want to miss this show! Then, starting in March we are back on the road, heading out east to Philly, Chicago, NYC, Nashville, and more! Tour dates have been updated, so check and see If we are in your neck of the woods, and please come out and say hey! Much love, Katie
